The Downtown Development Corporation’s mission is to advance the long term economic health and vitality of downtown Louisville. Its efforts in this mission take on a variety of forms, including the crafting of the Downtown Development Plan and overseeing the multitude of actions necessary to carry it out.  In addition, at any given time the DDC often initiates, or is asked to undertake, a series of shorter term efforts to help advance specific development goals or to tackle a challenge that may be inhibiting progress in a certain area.  Examples of these efforts include the creation of the Downtown Housing Fund, the Convention Center expansion study,  and the downtown place-making initiative. Special projects undertaken this year include the “Louis Link” downtown skywalk wayfinding system and the East Downtown/Kennedy Interchange Reuse Urban Design Plan.
